Spanish Iberdrola to invest 8 billion dollars in development in U.S.
renewable energy
The second largest Spanish power company Iberdrola SA to invest in the period
from 2008 to 2010 $ 8 billion in development in U.S. renewable energy. This RIA

Iberdrola expects by 2010 to obtain influence over 15% of the market for wind
power, stated in a press release. According to the forecasts of Iberdrola,
production capacity of wind power company in the United States at the end of

3.6 thousand MW.
Iberdrola is the world's largest producer of electricity using wind energy. The
company is also involved in hydro and nuclear power, transportation and
distribution of electricity and natural gas. On the international market, the
company is represented in Brazil, Mexico, Bolivia, Chile and Guatemala.
In April 2007, Iberdrola completed its acquisition of the British energy company
Scottish Power for 12 billion pounds (15.9 billion euros). Iberdrola is in the
process of acquiring U.S. power company Energy East Corp. for 6.4 billion euros.

(Northwest China) began construction of the world's largest wind power base (WEC).
The design capacity of up to 35.65 million kilowatts. Total investments amount

construction of the power base will reach 10.65 million kilowatts.
According to experts, the area is rich Tszyutsyuan wind resources. According to
the experts, the total reserves of wind power here is 150 million kilowatts,
including at least 40 million kilowatts can be developed.
Work on the development of wind energy in Tszyutsyuane began in 1996. Currently,
the city is already operating 5 WEC total capacity 410 thousand kilowatts.

In 2007 the world was produced 240 giga watt «green» electricity - 50% more than
in 2004. Now, the share of «green» electricity production based on renewable

of world production.
The largest source of «green» electricity today is wind power. In 2007, the
volume of production increased by 28% compared with 2006 and reached 95
gigawatts.

was 50%, reaching 7.7 gigawatts.
