United States are considering a transition to renewable energy sources by 2025
According to researchers from the U.S. corporation RAND, moving the United
States for new renewable energy sources, such as the energy of water, sun and
wind by 2025 could be implemented without significant financial investment. RAND
study was carried out by order of Energy Future Coalition.
To date, renewable resources accounted for only six percent of the total energy
used in the United States. In the RAND convinced that by 2025 this figure could
be as a minimum, to 18 percent, provided that the price of implementation and
operation of renewable sources will keep downward trend, and projections of oil
prices in the coming years are correct.
In July this year a group of senators and representatives nominated by the
U.S. Congress a draft of a gradual transition of the country for renewable
energy. The government hopes that by 2025 about 25 percent of the energy
resources of the country will be renewable.
For the complete report in the RAND used a computer model that takes into
account the 1500 different scenarios in the energy market. The key to successful
and efficient introduction of renewable energy is also the cost of traditional
minerals.
According to the most pessimistic scenario, by 2025 would reach only 6% increase
the share of renewable sources. Negative role in the projections are possible
30% the rising cost of energy use data, and half fall in the price of
traditional energy sources, reports New Scientist.
If the projections do not take into account some new developments in the field
of renewable energy, in particular, hydrogen and renewable options for the
so-called bio-fuels derived from wood or cereals.
Note that the energy issue for the United States is quite urgent, because the
country is the world's largest consumer of petroleum products. As pointed out
earlier this year, President Bush, the development of renewable energy will help
the United States to get rid of energy dependence from the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the transition to renewable energy thinking and in other countries.
Thus, the chronic shortage of electricity in the country push the Government of
the PRC to adopt in the middle of last year, the decision to build the first
coastal wind. At the same time, the partial transition to renewable energy, and
Taiwan reported.
